In hospitals and clinics, a healthcare CV is usually read by a head of department or the personnel department, and they read it in a set order: practising certificate first, then qualifications and where you did your clinical practice, and only then the departments you have worked in and the procedures you are skilled at. This article follows the same order, with examples for nurses, pharmacists and technicians, and explains how to choose among the 6 healthcare CV templates.
Medical hiring is bound by licensing: without a practising certificate that covers the right scope, the department cannot put you on the rota. So the reader looks for the certificate section first, then your qualifications, where you did your clinical practice and the departments you have worked in. Order your CV sections the same way, with languages and IT skills at the end.
| Role | Checked first | What decides the interview |
|---|---|---|
| Nurse | Checked firstPractising certificate and scope | What decides the interviewDepartments worked in, procedures, shift patterns |
| Pharmacist | Checked firstPharmacy practising certificate | What decides the interviewCounselling experience, GPP |
| Technician, doctor | Checked firstDegree, certificates, specialty | What decides the interviewEquipment operated, case volume |
Give all four details: the certificate name, its number, the issuing authority and the scope of professional practice, for example "Medical examination and treatment practising certificate no. ..., issued by the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health, 06/2024, scope: nursing". If you are still doing your post-graduation supervised practice, give the facility, the month you started and the month you expect to finish. List each continuing education course on its own line, with the training provider and year.
Each position should answer three questions: which department, how many patients per shift and which procedures. "Patient care" is a duty; "cared for 6 to 8 ventilated patients per shift with no pressure ulcers in 12 months" is a measurable capability.
Example experience section for a nurse
Staff Nurse, Intensive Care Unit, Provincial General Hospital, 04/2022 to present
Care for 6 to 8 critically ill patients per shift, 3 to 4 of them on ventilators; closed suctioning, central venous catheter care. 8 night shifts a month on a three-shift, four-team rota. Team hand hygiene compliance above 90% in 2025.
The skills section should read like a list of procedures. Nurses list: IV cannulation, blood sampling, ECG recording, wound care, patient monitors, syringe pumps. Pharmacists list: medication counselling, management of specially controlled drugs, Good Pharmacy Practice (GPP). Technicians name the haematology, biochemistry, X-ray and CT equipment they have operated. For languages, give the level you can actually work at, with your IELTS or TOEIC score; if you are aiming for nursing or care-worker programmes in Japan or Germany, give your Japanese or German level.
The certificate mistake is the most serious: it decides whether your application makes it into the pool of eligible candidates.
Public hospitals, private hospitals and most domestic clinics accept CVs in Vietnamese; public-sector recruitment also requires a personal record form (sơ yếu lý lịch) and an application form in the prescribed format. International hospitals accept CVs in English or in both languages. One page is enough with under five years' experience; doctors with research projects or published papers can use two.
This group has 6 templates. For a public hospital or an online recruitment portal, choose a one-column template with little colour; for private clinics and international hospitals, you can choose a two-column template in a blue or green that suits healthcare. Each template offers 10 layouts, 36 backgrounds and 69 fonts; fill it in from your profile and download a PDF.
Give the facility where you are doing your supervised practice, the month you started and the month you expect to finish. Many facilities still take on candidates who are completing their practice period, as long as they know when you will become eligible.
Use your clinical placements: give the department, hospital, dates and the procedures you performed under supervision. List your post-graduation practice period as a job.
Yes. Departments short of night staff give priority to applications that mention experience of a three-shift, four-team rota or willingness to work nights and weekends.
