Marketing CVs in numbers: campaigns, channels, budgets and the metrics employers look for

8 sectionsAbout 4 min readUpdated 01/10/2026

A marketing manager reads a CV the way they read an end-of-campaign report: which channels, how much budget, which metrics changed, and which stage you were responsible for. A marketing CV without figures is like a campaign without a report: however good it looks, it is hard to believe. Việc Hot has 4 marketing CV templates for communications, digital and content roles. The sections below cover the tools and metrics each area calls for and how to write up experience campaign by campaign.

How marketing recruiters read a CV

At a brand, the reader is the marketing manager or brand manager; at an agency, the account director or team lead. Both skim for four things in this order: your area (performance, content, SEO, brand, trade), the channels and budgets you have managed, the metrics that changed because of you, and links to real work. Newcomers do not need big budgets: a fan page you ran yourself or a student campaign with figures still gets read. What they do not read is adjectives: creative, passionate, quick to catch trends.

The tools and metrics each area calls for

AreaTools to listMetrics to state

SEO, websiteTools to listSearch Console, Ahrefs or SEMrush, Screaming FrogMetrics to stateOrganic traffic, number of top-10 keywords

Email, CRMTools to listMailchimp, HubSpot, Zalo OA, Zalo ZNSMetrics to stateOpen rate, click rate, number of leads
Brand, trade marketingTools to listSurveys, events, POSMMetrics to stateAwareness, number of points of sale

Free certifications such as Google Ads and Google Analytics on Skillshop, Meta Blueprint or HubSpot Academy are a plus for newcomers; for someone with two or three years in the job, one campaign with figures is worth more than any certificate.

Write experience campaign by campaign

Open each position with a line on scope (product category, channels, budget, team), followed by two to four representative campaigns written to the formula action, figure, result.

Performance marketing specialist, cosmetics

Managed a Meta Ads and Google Ads budget of about 300 million VND a month for two skincare brands; worked with a 3-person content team.

Sunscreen range launch campaign (04-07/2025): rebuilt the campaign structure around audience segments and tested 24 ad creatives; CPA fell from 85,000 to 52,000 VND and ROAS rose from 2.1 to 3.4 after three months.

Content: planned and produced 20 posts a month for the fan page; average organic reach rose from 30,000 to 90,000 a month.

How a content marketing CV differs from a digital marketing CV

The two roles are often lumped together, but recruiters read them differently. A content marketing CV is judged by output: articles, video scripts, social media series, plus figures showing that people actually read them. A digital marketing CV (many Vietnamese job posts call it online marketing) is judged by channels and budget: which channels you ran, how much you spent, and what each lead cost. Put the part that matches the role at the top.

Content marketing executive, restaurant chain

Responsible for fanpage, TikTok and website content for 6 branches; worked with 1 designer and 1 videographer.

Produced 24 posts and 8 short videos per month; the new-dish video series (03-05/2025) reached 1.2 million views in total, and table bookings via messages rose from about 40 to 110 per week.

Rewrote 30 website articles around local keywords; organic traffic grew from 2,000 to 6,500 visits per month within 5 months.

For digital marketing, writing by campaign as described above is enough; also state clearly which channels you optimised hands-on and which you only monitored through reports.

Figures need context

"Up 300%" says nothing if the starting point was 10 views. Always give the before and after figures, or an absolute number with a time frame: "from 1,800 to 4,500 followers in 6 months". State your real role: if it was the whole department's campaign, say which stage you handled. Round unpublished internal figures or give them as ratios.

English-language marketing CVs and which template to choose

International agencies, multinational brands and job posts written in English: an English CV, with standard titles such as Digital Marketing Executive, Performance Marketing Specialist, Content Marketing Executive or Brand Executive. Domestic brands: a Vietnamese CV, keeping tool names and metrics in English. The marketing templates on Việc Hot have restrained accents so they do not look out of place when sent to traditional brands; if you work in a creative agency, you can switch to an eye-catching template. One page if you have under five years of experience.

Common mistakes in marketing CVs

  • A skills section made up entirely of adjectives: creative, sharp, on top of trends.
  • Listing the channels you have worked on without a single figure.
  • Claiming the whole department's campaign as your own.
  • No links to any of your work.

Frequently asked questions

List course projects, fan pages or channels you run yourself, club campaigns and part-time jobs where you ran ads, with real figures however small. Add Google and Meta certifications and links to work you have made yourself.

Yes, because it is the first measure of scale that recruiters look for. Give an approximate figure, for example "about 300 million VND a month", rather than the exact number from your previous employer.

Traditional brands, banks, real estate: a marketing or professional template. Agencies and young brands: an eye-catching template. The content inside stays the same; only the shell changes.

They are a plus for people with under two years of experience, and they are free. For experienced marketers, campaign figures are more convincing.

It should have one. Recruiters want to read your articles or watch your videos before inviting you to interview. Pick three to five standout pieces and put the links in the CV or gather them on one portfolio page.

In Vietnamese job posts the two names usually describe the same job: running ads and managing online channels. Use the job title exactly as worded in the post you are applying to.
