Driver CV template: how to list your licence class, years behind the wheel and familiar routes

7 sectionsAbout 4 min readUpdated 07/10/2026

Whether the job is a personal driver for an executive, an office driver or a delivery truck driver, the hiring manager asks four questions before calling: which licence class, how many years driving, which routes, and any accidents or licence suspensions. A driver CV that answers those four in the top half of the page is usually enough to get a test drive. This guide covers each section with examples for each kind of driving job, and how to choose among the 8 driver CV templates.

How hiring managers read a driver CV

Right under your name, put a one-line summary such as "Class C driver, 9 years of experience, regular on the Hanoi - Hai Phong route" instead of a career objective. Then your driving licence, experience at each employer, safety record, health, and finally supporting skills. Each type of job looks at something different:

Type of jobLooked at firstDeciding factor

Listing your driving licence class on a CV

From 1 January 2025, the Law on Road Traffic Order and Safety 2024 (Luật Trật tự, an toàn giao thông đường bộ 2024) reorganised driving licence classes in Vietnam. Write the exact class printed on your licence with the year issued and expiry date, for example "Class C driving licence, issued 2019, valid until 2029". Licences issued before 2025 remain valid until they expire, so keep the old class name and add the vehicles you have driven so the reader does not have to guess.

Write driving experience in kilometres and routes

"Company driver" is a job title, not experience. Each employer should list the vehicle type, routes, kilometres or trips, and one concrete result: on-time delivery, no damaged goods, lower fuel use.

Example experience entry for a truck driver

Truck driver, X Transport Company, Binh Duong, 03/2021 to present

Drives an 8-tonne truck on the Binh Duong - Can Tho - Ca Mau route, about 6,000 km a month. Delivers to 40 dealers with a 98% on-time rate in 2025. No accidents and no traffic violation reports in 5 years. Checks the vehicle at the start of each shift, keeps the fuel log, matches delivery notes with the warehouse.

Example for an executive's driver

Drove a 7-seat car for a Deputy General Director for 4 years, including Noi Bai airport transfers and business trips across northern provinces. Planned trips around the work schedule, had the car ready 15 minutes early, kept servicing on schedule and kept business matters confidential.

Safety record, health and supporting skills

A short "Safety and health" section is often read more closely than the experience section: years without accidents, no licence suspensions, a valid driver health certificate, no alcohol at work. Pick supporting skills related to the vehicle and to deliveries:

  • Comfortable with digital maps, inner-city routes and the provinces you have driven.
  • Basic maintenance: oil, tyres, brakes, small roadside fixes.
  • Forklift operator certificate with the capacity operated (for example 2.5 or 3 tonnes).
  • Reading and signing delivery notes, collecting payment on delivery.
  • Basic English if you transport foreign guests.

Common mistakes on driver CVs

  • Writing only "has a driving licence" without the class and year issued.
  • Leaving out the vehicle types and routes driven.
  • Skipping the safety section and leaving the employer to wonder about violations.
  • A wrong phone number, or a phone that is off while driving; add a backup number if you have one.
  • Two or three pages for a driver role; one page is enough.

Choosing among the 8 driver CV templates

This group has 8 templates, all one page, with type large enough to read quickly on a phone. For personal or family driver roles, choose a template with a photo, because the employer wants to see who will share the car; for truck and forklift roles, choose a simple template with the licence section at the top. Each template offers 10 layouts, 36 backgrounds and 69 fonts, and fills in from your Việc Hot profile if you already have one.

When you are done, download a PDF to send via Zalo or email, or send a share link. If a company asks for a Word file, click "Download Word" to get a one-column .docx you can keep editing on a computer. A CV is often sent with a job application letter and a personal background form when the company keeps paper records.

Frequently asked questions

Write the exact class printed on the licence with the year issued and expiry date, then add the vehicles you have driven, for example "Class B2, 7-seat cars and 2.5-tonne trucks". Licences issued before 2025 remain valid until they expire.

Yes, but as concrete behaviour: punctuality, confidentiality, having the car ready before the appointment, planning business trips. People hiring a personal driver value trustworthiness as much as driving skill.

Treat it as a job: dates, vehicle, area covered, number of trips and your in-app rating. It shows you know the roads and can deal with passengers.

Add one line saying your driver health certificate is valid. The employer will ask for the original when processing your file, and stating it up front speeds things up.
