Principals and centre managers often read teachers' CVs while drawing up the timetable, so their questions are practical: which subject, which level, whether you have teacher training, which hours you are free and how your previous classes did. A teaching CV that answers all five gets you invited to a trial lesson. This article shows how to answer each one, with examples, and how to choose among the 6 templates.
The first line under your name should be "Lower secondary maths teacher, 6 years" or "English teacher for young learners, IELTS 7.5, TESOL" rather than a career objective. Then come qualifications and certificates, experience by class, student results and, finally, your availability. Each type of employer looks at something different:
| Employer | Looks at first | What decides it |
|---|---|---|
| Public school | Looks at firstTeaching degree for the right level | What decides itForm teacher experience, coaching students for academic competitions |
| Private or bilingual school | Looks at firstLanguage skills, teaching methods | What decides itPrevious class results, parent feedback |
| Language centre | Looks at firstIELTS, TESOL, evening and weekend availability | What decides itShare of learners reaching their target, re-enrolment |
If you graduated in teacher education, listing the degree is enough. If you studied another subject and want to teach, you need a teacher training certificate (chứng chỉ bồi dưỡng nghiệp vụ sư phạm); give the issuer and year. Under current rules, primary and secondary school teachers need a university degree. English teachers list IELTS, TOEIC or VSTEP with the score and test year, plus TESOL, TEFL or CELTA if they have them. For IT skills, list what you have done with them: building digital lessons, teaching online.
Write your experience with the formula action, number, result: how many classes, how many students, measured by what. In schools, that means entrance exam results for the next school level and academic competition prizes; in centres, the share of learners who reach their target score.
Example experience section for an English teacher
English Teacher, X Lower Secondary School, Hanoi, 09/2021 to present
Teach 4 classes in Grades 8 and 9, 165 students. In the 2025 Grade 10 entrance exam, 62% of students in these classes scored 8 or above in English, higher than the year-group average. Coached a competition team of 12 students, who won 3 city-level prizes.
List them by what you have done: lesson plans written to the 2018 General Education Programme (Chương trình giáo dục phổ thông 2018), lessons designed in PowerPoint or Canva, review games built on Kahoot or Quizizz, experiential learning activities, STEM and clubs. Communicating with parents deserves its own line, because private schools and centres value teachers who report progress every week. An availability line such as "available weekday evenings and Saturdays" lets a centre timetable you on the first call.
The first mistake is the most common and the easiest to fix: one line under your name puts your application in the right pile.
Public schools accept CVs in Vietnamese, together with a personal record form (sơ yếu lý lịch) and a teacher application letter. Language centres, bilingual schools and international schools accept CVs in English. One page is enough with under five years' experience; use two if you have a long record of coaching prize-winning students.
This group has 6 templates. For preschool and primary teaching, choose a template with soft colours and space for a photo, because parents want to see the face of the person teaching their children; for upper secondary, university or public-school applications, choose a formal template in a single muted colour. Each template can switch between 10 layouts, 36 backgrounds and 69 fonts; fill it in once and download a PDF.
For language centres and skills centres, yes, because many only need subject knowledge and the ability to run a class. For schools, state clearly that you are taking the training course and when you expect to receive the certificate.
Yes, if you put numbers on it: number of classes, number of learners and specific tasks such as marking, one-to-one support and progress tracking. For new teacher education graduates, it is the main part of the experience section.
Yes. Keep a link in your CV to a lesson plan or a short video of 5 to 10 minutes. Centres and private schools usually ask for a trial lesson; having a video ready gets you scheduled sooner.
