A sales manager reads a sales CV differently from HR. They skip the career objective and go straight to three things: your sales figures or target attainment, your close rate or number of new accounts, and the client base you have looked after. A sales CV template therefore puts the numbers at the top of the page, even when you cannot disclose the real figures. This article shows how to do it and how to choose among the 6 templates.
The order they look in: product category and sales model (B2B or B2C, retail, real estate, insurance, software), then the numbers, then the sales channel (phone, face-to-face, dealer management), and finally the territory. The line under your name should read "B2B sales executive, office equipment, 3 years, 110% of 2025 target", not a general introduction.
Many companies treat sales figures as internal information. In that case, use target attainment, your ranking in the team, growth on the previous period, the number of new accounts opened and your retention rate for existing clients. These relative figures do not breach confidentiality and are still enough for a comparison.
Example experience section for a B2B salesperson
Sales Executive, X Office Equipment Co., Ltd., Ho Chi Minh City, 01/2023 to present
Manage a portfolio of 120 small and medium-sized business clients in Ho Chi Minh City and Dong Nai. Average sales of 1.2 billion VND a month; 110% of the 2025 target, ranked 2nd of 18 sales staff across the South. Opened 45 new accounts and retained 92% of existing clients. Manage the pipeline in Getfly CRM.
Each bullet point answers: what you did, how much and with what result. Writing this way rules out phrases like "finding and looking after customers", which say nothing. Three pairs to compare:
| Vague | With numbers |
|---|---|
| Called customers to advise them | With numbersMade 80 to 100 calls a day, 12% appointment rate, closed 25 contracts a quarter |
| Looked after existing customers | With numbersManaged 120 wholesale accounts in the CRM, 85% repeat purchase rate, revenue from existing clients up 18% |
| Developed the market | With numbersOpened 3 tier-one dealers in Can Tho and An Giang, each ordering 300 million VND a month |
List skills by sales situation: needs discovery, objection handling, product demos, price negotiation, after-sales care. Name the exact tools you have used: CRMs such as Salesforce, HubSpot, Bitrix24, Getfly or Misa AMIS; Excel or Google Sheets for pipeline tracking; Zalo OA and LinkedIn for prospecting. Field B2B salespeople should mention a driving licence and willingness to travel to other provinces; telesales staff should give the number of calls a day they are used to.
The second mistake is exposed at interview, when the interviewer separates your individual figures from the team's.
B2B sales for foreign companies, software and exports needs an English CV; domestic real estate, insurance and retail use Vietnamese. One page is enough with under five years' experience. Whatever the length, your biggest number must sit in the top third of the page.
This group has 6 templates; what they have in common is a prominent figures block at the top and space for your client base and market. For selling to businesses, choose muted colours; for retail and real estate, you can go for warmer oranges and reds. Each template offers 10 layouts, 36 backgrounds and 69 fonts; fill it in from your profile and download a PDF.
Give the numbers you do have: calls made, customers approached during an internship, sales revenue from a student job. Employers want to see that you are used to rejection and keep calling.
It may, if you signed a confidentiality agreement. Using target attainment, ranking and growth instead of absolute figures is the safe option and still convincing.
Not in the CV. Sales income is made up of a base salary and commission, so leave it for negotiation at interview, once the new company's policy is clear.
