Guide

Tutor CV template: list subjects, grade levels and student progress to get classes

7 sectionsAbout 3 min readUpdated 07/10/2026

Tutoring centres and parents read a tutor CV quickly, because they only need to know which subjects and grades you teach, when you are free, whether you live nearby, and how your past students improved. A maths tutor, an English tutor or a primary school tutor should answer all of that on one page. This guide covers each section, with examples for students who have never taught and for tutors with a few years of experience, plus how to choose among the 8 tutor CV templates.

How tutoring centres and parents read a tutor CV

The two readers care about different things. A tutoring centre needs to match you with an open class, so it looks at subject, grade, district and availability first. A parent needs to trust you, so they look at where you study, your own grades and your past students.

The summary line: subject, grades and schedule

Under your name, add a line such as "Maths tutor for grades 6 to 9, third-year student at the University of Education, available Monday, Wednesday and Friday evenings and Sunday mornings, Cau Giay and Dong Da districts". That line alone tells a centre which classes fit you. If you teach several subjects, put the main one first and keep the list short; five or six subjects make parents doubt you are strong in any of them.

Your students’ results and your own

Write tutoring experience in numbers: how many students, which grade, for how long, and how their scores moved. If you have not taught anyone yet, use your own record in the subject: high school graduation exam score, university entrance score in that subject, academic awards, IELTS.

Example experience entry for a maths tutor

Maths tutor, private home tutoring, 09/2024 to present

Tutored 3 grade-9 students preparing for the grade-10 entrance exam, 3 sessions a week each. One student raised test scores from 5.5 to 8.0 in one semester; all three got into their first-choice public high school in 2025. Sent parents a short note after every session and a test at the end of each month.

Example for a student who has not taught yet

Maths score in the 2023 high school graduation exam: 9.2. Third prize in the provincial maths competition in grade 12. Teaching assistant for the faculty study club’s exam prep class, marking work for 40 students over 2 months.

Teaching approach and progress reports

Parents want to know how you teach, not only what. Write two or three lines about what you actually do, and avoid vague claims like "explains clearly, enthusiastic".

  1. Placement check
Start with a short test to see where the student has gaps.
  2. Learning plan
Set monthly goals and send parents a one-page plan.
  3. Progress reports
A short note after each session, a test and a report at month end.

Primary school tutors should add how they keep young children focused; English tutors should list the course books used and how they practise speaking and listening.

Common mistakes on tutor CVs

  • Offering every subject from grade 1 to grade 12.
  • No availability, so the centre has to call back and ask.
  • Claiming "patient, loves children" without a single student example.
  • A casual profile photo where your face is unclear.
  • Leaving out scores when they are a student’s strongest evidence.

Choosing among the 8 tutor CV templates

This group has 8 one-page templates. For primary or preschool tutoring, choose a soft-coloured template with a clear portrait photo; for high school exam prep or IELTS, choose a more formal template with achievements at the top. Each template offers 10 layouts, 36 backgrounds and 69 fonts, prefilled from your Việc Hot profile. English tutors can make a bilingual English - Vietnamese CV or switch to any of 17 languages.

When sending to a parent via Zalo, download a PDF or send a share link that opens straight on a phone. If a tutoring centre wants a Word file to add to its own records, click "Download Word" to get a one-column .docx with all your content.

Frequently asked questions

Yes, for grades below your own level. Use your exam scores, academic awards and experience helping younger siblings as evidence, and state your free sessions and area clearly.

It should have one, especially when sent to parents, because they want to know who will come to their home. Use a clear portrait with a plain background and neat clothes.

Not when applying to a centre, which has its own fee table. When writing directly to parents you can state a fee per session with its length, for example 200,000 VND for 90 minutes, to save both sides time.
