How to write a marketing application letter with campaigns and metrics, not adjectives

7 sectionsAbout 3 min readUpdated 01/10/2026

A marketing application letter (đơn xin việc) is usually read by a marketing manager or the owner of a small business, and they read it looking for campaigns, channels and metrics. "Creative", "trend-savvy" and "able to multitask" tell the reader nothing, because every letter says them. This article shows how to describe a campaign in numbers, what to write if you are new and have never run real ads, and when the letter needs the formal administrative format.

Who reads a marketing application letter and what they want to see

Agencies have the creative director or an account lead read it, and they open the portfolio before the letter. On the brand side, at retail chains and in real estate, the marketing manager reads the metrics: cost per lead, conversion rate, revenue by channel. At a small business the owner reads it and wants one person who can create content, run ads and handle basic design.

Open with the channels you handle and one campaign

After the "To:" line (Kính gửi) and the position, the next sentence states the area and channels you actually work on: content, paid ads on Meta and Google, SEO, email. The third sentence describes one representative campaign with its goal and result, for example "launch of a nut milk range, budget 300 million VND, 2,800 orders in six weeks". Put the portfolio link right below your signature. Give Google Ads or Meta Blueprint certificates with the year.

A campaign paragraph with metrics: a performance marketing example

A sample paragraph from someone running paid ads for a retail chain:

Experience paragraph in a marketing application letter

For the past two years I have managed paid advertising for a mother-and-baby store chain with 12 outlets, on a budget of about 250 million VND a month across Meta Ads and Google Ads. For the launch of a domestic nappy range in Q3 2025, I set up six ad groups by the baby's age in months, tested 24 creatives in the first two weeks and kept the five that performed best; cost per order fell from 95,000 VND to 61,000 VND and the campaign brought in about 3,400 orders in six weeks.

I am applying for the Performance Marketing position because your product category has the same repeat-purchase cycle as the one I work in; sample ads and reports, with sensitive figures hidden, are listed at the end of this letter.

New to marketing: write from your own channels, club projects and internships

A personal channel with 5,000 followers is a campaign you ran yourself: explain where you started from and what content grew it. A coursework project or a student marketing competition has a goal, a notional budget and measurable results. Describe your internship by the number of posts per month, the fan pages you managed and the tools you used.

Presentation: one typed page, and when the formal format is needed

Marketing letters are almost never handwritten. A formal administrative letter is only needed when the organisation collects paper files: hospitals, schools, state agencies or state-owned enterprises hiring communications staff. In that case keep the standard format, with the national name and motto as set by Decree 30/2020/ND-CP, and do not decorate the letter with colour; save your creativity for the portfolio. The template on this page is filled in online, has an English version, and can be printed or downloaded as a PDF.

Common mistakes and how to send the letter

  • Nothing but adjectives such as "creative, dynamic", and not a single campaign.
  • Metrics without context: one million reach on what budget?
  • Claiming the whole team's results without saying which part was yours.
  • A portfolio that asks for access permission, or a broken link.

Through Việc Hot, attach the letter and CV and paste the portfolio link into the message. By email, put the position and your full name in the subject line and write three lines that include one metric. For a paper application, add the personal record form (sơ yếu lý lịch) and a printed one-page portfolio.

Frequently asked questions

Almost always. Five to eight pieces with context and metrics, which open without a login.

You can describe your part of the work and relative results; hide budgets, cost prices and customer data if your former employer treats them as confidential.

Your own channels, coursework projects and internships, each with one measurable figure.
