Finding a job effectively: use filters properly, read job posts closely and avoid scams

6 sectionsAbout 3 min readUpdated 01/10/2026

Experienced job seekers do not scroll through hundreds of posts and scatter applications. They narrow the list down to a few dozen posts in the right location and salary range, read each one carefully, look up the company, then send each employer an application tailored to it. This takes more effort at the start, but the rate of interview invitations is far higher. Below is that process, applied to the tools available on this page.

Narrow down posts with filters before you read

The three most useful filters are location, salary and level. For location, choose the province or city, and add the district or ward if you do not want a commute of more than 45 minutes. Set the salary floor at the figure you can accept, not your dream figure, because many posts marked "negotiable" would otherwise be excluded unfairly. Level lets you skip management posts when you are starting out, and the other way round. Keywords work best as job titles common in the industry, such as "general accountant" (kế toán tổng hợp), "sales executive" (nhân viên kinh doanh) or "software developer" (lập trình viên), rather than long descriptions; you can type with or without Vietnamese diacritics, and typing a company name also brings up that company's posts.

Every job post page on Việc Hot has a "Check your match" card: the system compares the skills, experience, location and desired salary in your profile with the requirements of the post and points out what is missing. If you have a post from somewhere else, paste its text into the CV and job post matching tool to get a similar result.

Spotting fraudulent job posts

Scam posts look more and more like real ones: a big company's logo, an "HR officer" who replies quickly, even a contract sent as a photo. What they have in common lies not in how they look but in what they ask of you: there is always a step where you must hand over money or documents before you can start work.

  • Charging application fees, uniform fees, training fees or a "deposit to hold your place", or asking you to top up money in an app to complete tasks.
  • Keeping the original of your ID card, diplomas or social insurance book.
  • Salaries twice the market rate for work that needs no skills: "easy work, high pay", "work online 2 hours a day".
  • Interviews and job offers entirely through a messaging app, no office address, an email address not on the company's domain.
  • A company name with no tax code to be found, or a lookup showing that it has ceased operations.
  • Pressure to sign the contract the same day, without letting you take it home to read.

Article 17 of the Labour Code 2019 (Bộ luật Lao động 2019) prohibits employers from keeping the originals of identity papers, diplomas and certificates, and from requiring employees to pay money or hand over property as security for a job. If you meet such a demand, you have the right to refuse, and you should report the post with the report button on the post page. Posts on Việc Hot are reviewed before they go live, and employers with a verified badge have been checked against their business registration; even so, for a company you have never heard of, look up its tax code and use the job post checker before you apply.

Applying and tracking your applications on Việc Hot

  1. Complete your profile once

Experience, skills, education, desired salary and location. The more complete your profile, the more accurate your match score for each post, and the easier it is for employers searching for candidates to find you.

  2. Create a CV for the post you are applying to

From your profile, create a CV with a template suited to your industry, and adjust the headline and summary to the exact job title in the post. One version per post, saved in your account.

  3. Apply and write a few lines of introduction

Choose a CV and write three to five sentences on why you suit this position. Most employers read the message before they open the CV.

  4. Track the status and respond on time

The Applied jobs section of your account shows the status of each application; employers have a deadline to respond, and you are notified when you are invited to interview or receive an invitation to connect.

  5. Turn on job alerts

Set keyword, location and salary criteria to receive an email when a new post matches; a newly published post has less competition than one that has been up for two weeks.

Finding jobs by location and occupation

Each page below groups open posts for one province or city, or for one job title, with the number of posts and the areas hiring the most, so you can compare quickly.

Frequently asked questions

No. Searching for jobs, creating a profile, building a CV, applying and receiving job alerts are all free for candidates. Việc Hot charges job seekers no fees of any kind, and no employer is allowed to charge fees through the platform.

Five to ten carefully chosen posts, each with its own CV and message, work better than fifty identical applications. Employers spot mass applications very quickly.

The employer does not publish the salary range, usually because the range is wide depending on experience or because of internal policy. You can still ask for the range in the first round; it is a normal question and saves time for both sides.

On Việc Hot, every application has a response deadline, and you can see its status in the Applied jobs section. If the deadline passes without a response, treat the application as unsuccessful for now and move on to other posts rather than waiting.
